Job Description:

Workplace Classification:Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to their primary work location (Warren, MI or Austin, TX) at least three times per week, or as otherwise dictated by the business.
The Role:
This role is responsible for managing a team of 8-12 Software Engineers who support, develop, and migrate the Quality Data Platform Systems to Cloud (e.g., Azure Databricks). The Quality Data & Analytics Platform (QDAP) processes data for Vehicle Quality Analytics and Reporting, hosted on the Shared GM Data Platform, utilizing similar technologies and infrastructure as other Enterprise Reporting Applications.
Data in QDAP includes Vehicle Events, Warranty Transaction Claims, Vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), Global A Parameter Identifiers (PIDs), and Vehicle Intelligence Platform Data Identifiers (DIDs) from Electronic Control Units (ECUs). Data is captured through Vehicle Data Recorders (VDRs), OnStar, Dealer Uploads, and Plant Uploads. DTC data is combined with Warranty/Claims data, providing various reports such as Warranty, DTC, and PID/DID summaries and details.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Lead, guide, and direct a team of technical employees in engineering deliverables supporting business objectives.
  • Manage engineering execution related to Vehicle Development Process deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Lead initiatives and methods without predefined procedures.
  • Ensure team meets targets.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, including requirements and reports.
  • Identify and lead staffing initiatives for the team.

    Communication:

  • Conduct regular team meetings, communicate GM policies, procedures, leadership, and safety messages.
  • Create and communicate vision and strategies; prepare and deliver presentations as needed.

    Training & Development:

    • Ensure employees complete mandatory GM training and role-specific training.
    • Support employees' career development goals and implement initiatives to improve team capabilities.

      Assigning Work:

      • Assign and manage workload, setting priorities for individuals and the team.

        Monitoring & Approving GM Records:

        • Review and approve employee work schedules, overtime, expenses, and related data.

          Evaluating Performance & Behaviors:

          • Review deliverables, provide feedback, and conduct performance interventions when necessary.

            Recognition:

            • Recognize contributions both formally and informally, provide timely feedback, and participate in compensation planning.

              Removing Roadblocks & Resolving Issues:

              • Identify and resolve issues and roadblocks proactively.
