knowledge of pathophysiology Description: The ICU RN provides
comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult
patients. Patients require continuous monitoring, advanced
interventions, and complex clinical decision-making. The RN
functions as a patient advocate and clinical expert. They work
collaboratively within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Key
responsibilities include providing direct nursing care in
accordance with established policies and procedures. The RN will
care for critically ill adult patients including those requiring
mechanical ventilation and vasoactive infusions. Invasive
hemodynamic monitoring and post-operative critical care are also
involved. Ongoing, detailed patient assessments and reassessments
are essential. The RN must interpret and respond to cardiac
rhythms, lab results, and hemodynamic data. They will titrate
medications per provider orders and unit protocols. Identifying
subtle changes in patient condition and initiating timely
interventions is critical. The RN will manage emergency situations
including codes and rapid deterioration. Ideal candidates will have
good communication skills and a proactive nature. A commitment to
patient advocacy and strong teamwork are essential for success in
this role. This unit operates with a nurse-driven model. Critical
patients are admitted by Internal Medicine Physicians, who consult
with specialty physicians as necessary. Critical Care physicians
round daily on patients and are always available by phone. All
staff communicate via a dedicated phone system to ensure effective
