Recruitment/Relocation: May be Authorized. This position is located in the Community Living Center (CLC), Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC) Service, Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System (CTVHCS), Temple, Texas. The incumbent will be assigned Medical Director for Temple Community Living Center (CLC). The Community Living Center (CLC) Medical Director at Central Texas Veteran Health Care System, provides clinical and administrative leadership over the CLC program. The Medical Director leads the interdisciplinary staff in providing quality resident-centered care in the CLC. In collaboration with the ACNS CLC Nursing Director, the Medical Director is responsible for the quality of care and productivity of the programs and the development and implementation of initiatives to meet CTVHCS mission. IF PATIENT NEEDS ARISE, THE INCUMBENT OF THE ABOVE POSITION MAY BE REASSIGNED WITHIN THE CENTRAL TEXAS VETERANS HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday. 8:00am - 4:30pm and weekends as needed including call. This is a non-bargaining unit position. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Pay: Competitive salary, possible annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 49-54 days paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 10 federal holidays). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year stipend possible 1 week paid authorized absence to attend. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3) For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Board certified/board eligible in Geriatrics Experience in Geriatric leadership PHYSICIAN STAFF REQUIREMENTS Leadership/Manager Positions. Physician leadership and manager positions may be Chief of Staff, Directors (i.e., medical center and Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN)); selected positions in Central Office; Distinguished Physicians; and Service Chiefs or Service Line Managers. Positions are approved for these levels based on the scope and complexity of the assignment and the level of responsibility. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements: Moderate Lifting, 15-44 lbs; Light Lifting, under 15 lbs; Use of fingers; New vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Hearing (aid permitted); standing 4-6 hours; walking 4-6 hours.
