Job Description:

The Central Texas Health Care System is recruiting for a highly qualified Industrial Equipment Mechanic for our Engineering Service located in Temple, Texas. [ "As a member of the Maintenance and Repair Section, the incumbent's duties include disassembling and repairing complex industrial equipment, machinery and systems. Also, troubleshoots, analyzes and diagnoses mechanical defects and operational malfunctions of complex equipment to determine what repairs or replacements are required. Performs operational and functional tests to ensure minimal downtime of equipment and makes required adjustments in order to ensure proper and safe operation of the entire system. The incumbent performs maintenance and repair of all types of property and equipment such as domestic and commercial washers, dryers, electric ranges, grills, dish machines and bakery equipment, and other miscellaneous equipment such as recreation equipment. Reviews work order requirements reflecting systems, parts, and assemblies to be repaired, modified, or installed. Interprets and applies shop directives, diagrams, multi-blueprints, sketches, work orders and other specifications to determine material, tools, and equipment needed for the project. Uses and applies standard formulas, shop mathematics, trade theories, and industrial practices to calculate materials and solve problems. Sets up and operates machine tools and fabricates and/or repairs machine parts. Operates equipment in a safe manner, and applies established practices to minimize minor/major violations. Fabricates and/or repairs machine parts as well as work assigned in the machine shop, such as heating metals to bend, draw out, straighten and upset, or to anneal, temper, or harden. Incumbent uses acetylene torch to heat metals, anvil, and hand tools for shaping and forming. Performs simple lathe work and welding. The incumbent performs a variety of tasks involved in the installation and maintenance of one or more systems and related equipment typically found at a hospital/health care installation. Position requires the use of a variety of trade practices associated with utility systems operation and maintenance, welding, sheet metal/industrial equipment maintenance, and other related trades and crafts. The work requires the application of more than one trade practice, and the highest level of work is performed in a least two of the trades for purposes such as heating/steam, water or wastewater distribution,\nsemi-fixed production machinery repair, door operating equipment.
