Job Description:

Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) (Clinical Specialist) serves as the subject matter expert and as a consultant to OT and other medical center staff in evaluating and treating patients in the specialty area of Hand Therapy. [ "The Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) (Clinical Specialist) possesses the knowledge and techniques for highly complex cases in hand rehabilitation, including but not limited to arthroplasty, contractures, fusions, ligament/tendon repairs, nerve compression syndrome, and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Demonstrates a full professional understanding of the theories of treatment in the area of hand therapy and their proper applications. Works closely with the Orthopedic and Plastic Surgeons within the CTVHCS to develop protocols for the treatment of patients undergoing surgical procedures relating to the upper extremities. Evaluates for a different type of orthotic devices including custom-made types to meet the individual patient's needs Establishes treatment programs with measurable goals, based on evaluative findings and within the boundaries of the individual prescription. Modifies the program according to changing patient needs and terminates treatment program when all goals have been met. Independently administers standard treatments in the area of Hand Therapy. Employee provides accurate written and/or verbal documentation of patient status and progress, treatment program plans, and patient response to treatment. Employee independently schedules patient visits throughout the day allowing for adequate individual treatment time as well as necessary time for conferences and any administrative tasks Assign work to this employee with standing instructions on objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and will provide necessary guidance for any assigned tasks that are outside of their routine responsibilities. Evaluates completed work to ensure clinical competencies are in alignment with agency policies Represents OT/PM&RS at interdisciplinary team meetings and provides in-service training to therapy and hospital staff as needed. Monitors and maintains inventory, equipment, and supply needs for treatment and informs the supervisor of needs. Compiles and submits statistical data required documenting patient attendance, therapist workload, and Quality Assurance monitors. Generally apprised of work performed through quality management reports, audits, and meetings. Maintains and carries out all hospital and service policies and philosophies. Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, occasional weekend as needed\nFinancial Disclosure Report: Not required" ]
