The Workforce Development Specialist 1 is responsible for
planning, coordinating and delivering training and staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Supports frontline management in achieving training and
development objectives; participates in preparing goals and
objectives for training.
Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as
workshops, on-the-job training, refresher training, one-on-one
Assists in designing (or providing recommendations to select)
instructional materials such as handbooks, demonstration models,
multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
Provides appropriate recommendations for instructional methods,
such as individual training, group instruction, lectures,
demonstrations, conferences, meetings, seminars and workshops.
Develops a means of measuring the effectiveness of training
programs through testing; modifies or establishes new methods and
procedures as needed.
Reports results of training program metrics and employee
progress. Maintains training records.
Develops strong relationships with all departments in creation
of course materials and incorporates feedback.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Able to create and deliver training materials and courses to
meet departmental training needs.
Ability to use a variety of learning/training concepts and
principles along with knowledge of adult learning.
Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal

Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel,
