This position is grant funded. Annual employment is contingent upon availability of funds.

SUMMARY

Assess students for special education eligibility, instructional interventions and coordinate placement and service delivery. THIS POSITION IS GRANT FUNDED.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Collaborate with campus RTI Committee regarding data collection, analysis, interventions, and assessment planning prior to Special Education referral.
  • Prepare for and conduct all ARD meetings within state adopted timelines.
  • Complete full individual evaluations and re-evaluations within state adopted timelines.
  • Coordinate and consult with school staff, related service providers, parents, medical professionals, and community agencies regarding the assessment of student, implementation of the IEP, and movement toward more restrictive environments.
  • Development of students' transition plan, including coordinating outside agencies and training for students and parents.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork to reflect 100% compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines as reflected by district accountability system.
  • LSSPs file Medicaid tickets per departmental timelines.
  • Disseminate to appropriate staff accurate and appropriate information regarding up-to-date special education legal requirements and/or changes and how those changes affect student placement.
  • Support Special Education department initiatives (PBMAS & SPP related actions)
  • Assist with planning and presentation of professional development programs for special education personnel.
  • Assist with planning and presentation of professional development programs for general and special education personnel as requested by administration.
  • Participate in department meetings and planning to ensure compliance and delivery of best practice services.
  • Assist in the revision of special education operating guidelines, forms and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent.

For Part Time Staff:

  • Campus Schedule must include at least 1 regularly scheduled morning and 1regularly scheduled afternoon block of time to accommodate campus and parent needs for ARDs.
  • The established campus schedule may need to be adjusted occasionally to accommodate campus and parent needs for ARDs. This should be done in a similar manner to full time staff as part of a cooperative agreement between PT staff, campus and district admin.
  • Part time staff may be allowed to occasionally adjust their established campus schedule to accommodate personal needs with prior notice and the cooperative agreement of PT staff, campus and district admin.
  • Part time staff may be asked to assist other campuses with testing needs in a similar manner to full time staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to effectively manage professional staff and parents, counseling students with anxiety and depressive disorders, psychological assessments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master's Degree; and at least six hours of Special Education course work and six hours of testing course work.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret educational periodicals, professional journals, educational procedures, or governmental laws and regulations. Ability to write reports, educational correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, faculty, parents and students.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to formulate and interpret statistical data such as mean, mode, median, and standard deviation. Ability to apply determination of test reliability and validity analysis of variance correlation techniques, sampling theory factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Registered Educational Diagnostician or Licensed Specialist in School Psychology and/or nationally certified school Psychologist.
