JOB SUMMARYThe Neurodiagnostic Technician 2, under general supervision, will perform routine electroneurodiagnostic procedures on neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and advanced procedures that include, but are not limited to, pediatric and neonatal electroencephalogram (EEG), ambulatory EEG studies, epilepsy monitoring, all modalities of Evoked Potentials, and nerve conduction velocities (NCV), if procedures are provided at that facility.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLEInterprets wave characteristics accurately during each test to detect evidence of brain disorders or nerve disorders, and provides interpretation to the Neurologist.Monitors and records patient's reaction to specific activities such as breathing directions or the introduction of various stimuli, in a thorough and accurate manner.Performs accurate EEG recordings of NCV testing in a hospital setting with the ability to transport equipment carefully and safely. Adapts methods for instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations and test findings.Summarizes patient's neurologic status and clinical history from the chart, patient or other persons. Explains recording procedure to patient and family members.Cleans and maintains equipment in good operating condition. Performs minor maintenance and repair of lab equipment, as needed, and promptly reports the need for major repair to the appropriate party.Provides clinical documentation of patient information.Is available for On Call as assigned.KEY SUCCESS FACTORSGeneral understanding of neuroanatomy and physiology, neurodiagnostic instrumentation, pattern recognition and various medical and pharmacological conditions that influence the neurodiagnostic recording.The completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Accredited END program and/or equivalent training in EEG is required.Must be available for "On Call" as assigned.Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology, basic electronics, electrical safety, basic computer skills, Neurodiagnostic instrumentation, pattern recognition and various medical and pharmacological conditions that influence the EEG recording.Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate infection control standards for the department and hospital.Will continue to expand knowledge by participation in conferences, in services and independent study.General computer skills, including but not limited to: using required software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and email.BENEFITSOur competitive benefits package includes the following- Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits- 401(k) savings plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%- Tuition Reimbursement- PTO accrual beginning Day 1 Note: Benefits may vary based upon position type and/or levelQUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION - Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification- EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - - - - - - - -Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.Facility/Location: S&W Memorial Medical Center - Temple, TexasNeruodiagnostic Department - FT Position
