The Office of the Commandant (OOC) serves and supports departments
within the Corps of Cadets that are critically engaged in all
aspects of student development and the delivery of key services and
support. OOC departments work to create environments that help
students develop, learn, and enhance their experience at Texas
A&M by providing leadership opportunities, experiential
education, and connections beyond the classroom.

Performance Specialist works as an integral part of the Corps
Academics team to directly support a cadet's personal academic
progress. The Scholastic Performance Specialist II, under
direction, is responsible for planning, developing, implementing,
and managing student scholastic performance programs and activities
utilizing maximum campus and community resources and opportunities.
Assist students with career goals, general academic requirements,
and personal concerns. Refers students to various campus academic
support programs and departmental offices when necessary. Serves as
a liaison between cadets and the University.

What you need to know
Salary: Commensurate based on hire's experience.

Position Details: Employee will/may supervise (4) supervise student
assistants. Some after hours work may be required for program
facilitation.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and
experience
Two years of related experience in advising, recruiting, teaching,
coaching, Student Affairs or other related area or Master's degree
or above and no related experience in advising, recruiting,
teaching, coaching, Student Affairs or other related area
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Ability to facilitate instruction in various settings (ie
classroom, presentation etc.)
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in education, counseling, or general subject area
of placement
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of Corps of Cadets structure, leadership
requirements, and/or military structure
Basic knowledge of TAMU catalog, academic rules and regs, schedule
registration, skilled personal counseling techniques
Responsibilities:
Monitors Academic Progress - Meets, refers, and follows up with
students regarding general scholastic questions, concerns, and
needs. Provides scholastic direction and advice to students, both
individually and in groups. Advises students with admission
requirements, curriculum requirements, and campus academic support
services. Fosters retention of identified groups of students
through coaching, mentoring, monitoring of student grades, and
other support activities. Interacts with college offices regarding
academic progress of students related to student probationary
terms. Monitors cadet GPR progress as well as degree completion
progress.
Coordinate Programs - Develops and revises informational materials
for students, departments, colleges, and the university. Assists
with development of programs and may oversee implementation of them
to achieve specific objectives or outcomes. Coordinates Corps
Academic support programs. Supports New Student Conferences by
answering parent academic concerns for incoming freshmen.
Student Records - Maintains an individual caseload of students to
monitor academic progress and progress to degree. Maintains FERPA
protected information in BANNER/Compass and HOWDY.
Resource Referral - Makes referrals to counseling, academic
enhancement services, instructor assistance and academic
departments. Refers students to University and other resources for
improving student success.
Facilitation & Other Duties - May facilitate student success
seminar & performs other duties as assigned.
