Job Description:

Position Summary: The role of the Military Program Specialist is to assist in building a world-class military focused recruitment and retention strategy as well as outreach programs necessary to deliver a pipeline of future military veteran associates for Penske. The Military Programs Specialist will deploy and execute strategies and outreach programs to all five branches of the military and focus on filling critical personnel shortages in select markets of the United States. Major Responsibilities: --- Implements military recruitment and retention strategy: -Develops and maintains contacts with military bases, veteran service organizations, student veteran organizations, military organizations, diversity groups and other public organizations to find and attract military applicants electronically, virtually, and face to face locally. -Initiates contact with military prospects and applicants; reviews applications and screens/interviews applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, salary requirements, geographical requirements, and to assess Penske organizational fit. -Serves as a mentor to transitioning military personnel by providing guidance, direction, and insight into the Penske culture and available positions. -Refers applicants for additional interviews with others in the organization as appropriate. -Works directly with field human resources team members by educating them on identifying opportunities for transitioning military talent and on the benefits of hiring military veterans. - Facilitates onboarding of new military veteran associates to ensure a smooth transition from the military to Penske. -Other projects as assigned by the manager. --- Develops and maintains a full understanding of the local labor market: -Develops networks with external military sources to continually improve military sourcing strategies and capabilities. -Develops relationships with the appropriate military personnel to remain current on knowledge of the talent available in each branch of the service. -Maintains full knowledge of market, including competitor value proposition and how Penske compares. -Maintains military base awareness and knowledge of government programs providing veteran training opportunities. --- Coordinates and participates in onsite military hiring events (open house, career fairs, and interview days): -Engages military personnel individually and in career event settings to describe Penske Logistics' employment opportunities and build a greater awareness of the value of a career with the company. -Provides white glove concierge service to military candidates. Assisting these candidates and/or their family members with application process. -Builds and maintain partnerships with organizations that support military hiring and transition assistance. --- Executes process to audit military-specific branded collateral on Penske Logistics' intranet site and update all outdated branded HR material that is posted: -Manages tactical execution of military specific marketing, creative, and collateral processes. -Executes strategy to develop internal communications collateral, such as Power Point presentations, brochures, email communications, logo design, posters, photo selection, and various other formats to support and promote Penske Logistics to the military and ensure proper execution of brand guidelines. -In partnership with Marketing and Staffing, assists in managing military-specific social media presence. -Represents the Penske brand to the market. Qualifications: Qualifications: --- Bachelor's Degree preferred. If no degree, equivalent work experience is required --- 4 years of military service required --- 2 - 3 years of recruiting experience preferred --- Advanced knowledge of Transportation & Logistics required --- Knowledge of computer, tablet, and smartphone technologies required --- Experience with internet candidate data mining preferred --- Knowledge of employment law / hiring practices preferred --- Experience using recruiting based Applicant Tracking Systems preferred --- Knowledge of Military Life (Rank/Structure, GI Bill Benefits and process, pay and benefits, etc.) required --- Ability to thrive in a fast paced deadline sensitive environment required --- Ability to travel as needed, including some overnight travel, up to 50% --- Must have strong oral and written communication skills --- Strong influencing / negotiating skills required --- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational, planning, & documentation skills Physical Requirements: -The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
